The Laborious Journey of Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh has become a fairy tale of sorts of late; but he was a real man with real issues. The scene below was from Star Trek in 2009...

There is a place called Mesopotamia and it is the cradle of civilization. Albeit in modern times it has fallen to more threats from evil itself.  When you discover history you can see what's beginning to unravel faster. History has a way of repeating itself, but you wouldn't know it unless, you look back. It really is the only way to keep moving forward.

The region of what is now Iraq, is the birthplace of writing and the city of Babylon.  The hanging gardens of Babylon is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world and it is the only one whose original location has not been established.  It doesn't mean it never existed, after all it has inspired so many more hanging gardens around the world since.

There is an very long poem about a man named Gilgamesh, recounting his struggles as a reckless youth, his fear of death, and his quest for immortality. Men think living forever is

An Easter Tale - Today and not once upon a time...

At Easter, we still honor a truly ethical and moral man who humbly lived among us. He never led us into temptation.  In fact, all accounts of his actions and deeds while here on earth, show that he tried to deliver us from evil.

He was the kind of person, we hope our sons and daughters would grow up to immulate. Someone who cared for others no matter what their religion or station in life may have been. Someone who cared for the sick and starving. Someone who knew deep inside you could never be wrong for the doing the right thing for others.

He created and/or reiterated boundaries that should never be crossed; not religions that added or detracted from how we should treat one another or even how we treat ourselves.

The world was and continues to be in need of redemption. A young man, named Jesus sacrificed himself to save others.  Everyday there are unspeakable horrors going on in the world; each and every act, all in need of redemption.

The Message isn't that we need another martyr or even another religion.  The message is, was and continues to be that - we have a responsibility towards each other to be just and true. To share what we have and what we know. To agree and disagree respectfully without fear of death or vengeance.

The Message is that sacrifice includes doing the right thing to avoid evil and that only when you do, can you to rise from the depths of despair, heartache and pain and forgive those who trespassed against you.

Forgiveness is not forgetting, it is not saying what is done is okay. Forgive simply means that "you" and only "you" have stopped feeling and feeding the angry beast.

Easter is a reminder to rise above the trials and tribulations that the world throws our way.  Simply by practicing goodness and compassion towards each other; no matter, where we're from or what we believe.

Bad things happen; but they can be overcome by Good Things, when we choose to rise above it. No matter what our faith is, Jesus was probably one of the best teachers who ever lived.

He who must not be named...

If you thought that line was only from a fairy tale read on ...

Michele McPhee reported on July 1, 2013 — that Accused Boston mob boss, James "Whitey" Bulger, smiled and chuckled during the testimony today of a former cocaine dealer who greeted Bulger from the stand with a friendly, "How are ya?'

This Story has been unraveling like the J.K. Rowling Novels we have come to love.  How so? Depends on what you take with you from her world.  Having read all of novels at least eight times and an avid history fan, as I read them I imaged Hitler as Voldermont.
However, the twists and turns in our own Boston, MA saga as reported by McPhee and others revealed that Voldermont has been closer to us New Englanders than we may have thought....

We meet people like those found in Harry Potter's world every day and some of us have confronted evil head on. Here are the modern day similarities unraveling in Boston, MA 2013.  Mentioning head on...check out their facial similarities, the lines of their forehead, nose, jaw, ears and even the eyes... The similarities do not end there with those who must not be named...

James "Whitey" Bulger          Thomas "Voldermont"

So Evil, that People do not speak their names?

Tower                                                                      Lucious Malfoy

Federal prosecutor Brian Kelly asked Tower to identify "Jimmy" and Tower looked out into the courtroom, and after he hesitated, he grinned and said: "I know Jim. There he is," and pointed straight at Bulger. "How are ya?" Bulger, witnesses in the court said, smiled and even chuckled as the judge repeatedly admonished Tower to slow down with his testimony because his rapid-fire Boston parlance was getting lost by the court recorder. At breaks in the testimony, Tower could be seen winking at people in the courtroom. The next call Tower received from his brother's kidnapper was decidedly less aggressive, he said on the stand. "Your brother is telling us that you are with some people from South Boston,'' the caller asked, Tower told the court. "They asked 'Boots?' 'Rifleman?"' That was the kidnappers second mistake, Tower said. The federal prosecutor asked why using those names would be viewed as a mistake." You don't use Mr. Bulger's name in regards to doing things,'' Tower answered. "Mr. Bulger would pursue someone who would mention his name."

Chamber of Secrets

Lucius Malfoy: Mr. Potter! Lucius Malfoy. We meet at last. Forgive me, your scar is legend. As, of course, is the wizard who gave it to you.

Harry: Voldemort killed my parents. He was nothing more than a murderer.

Lucius Malfoy: You must be very brave to mention his name. Or very foolish.

Hermione: Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself.
