2017 A Year Filled With Dragon Slayers

Dragon Slayers are those people that propelled us forward.
This is how it all unraveled ...

2017 was a year full of Manmade & Natural Disasters. Dragons in conflict with the earth, people & even the air we breathed. They sent unimaginable bursts of conflict, water, fire and icy temperatures. One way or another, we felt the sting and our Fairy Tales were interrupted by the beasts.

It was the year of the Fire Rooster  aka Lucky, it happens every 60 years. While going through it we never felt lucky - we felt bad luck. Yet, he showed us that in the face of adversity and heartbreak, that we could courageously and confidently come together. And by doing so we proved - we are resourceful, hardworking & talented in confronting so many of the problems that developed.

To Get Access back to our unwinding Fairy Tale, We dared to take a peek Behind The Mask and we found a Magic Bear named SAMI, who led us out of the woods. Where we met a 10 year old girl who shared some very cool facts and made us realize 'your never too old to learn something new'.

Through the eyes and voices of people who live here and way over there, we caught glimpses into what life is really like in lands faraway from our own.

No Fairy Tale is without bumps in the road and we found some unlikely villains lurking - behind a hill. A government unto itself - in more ways than the world ever challenged.

Our white light  chasers weeded them out and shared their findings with the world.  Out of the ashes, we listened and we found a back story of true love with this dynamic duo. What's more - we found out what you can achieve when you're working side by side
We shared the Highwire Act, with a certain mindfulness and overcame stress, weight-lossand even a supply chain revolution. Sharing tall tales and funny ones along the way. Even - when we were scared.
We found that there are people who went out of their way for others. Moreover, that the road to justice can be long; but satisfaction comes tenfold when you not only achieved it for yourself; but you opened the door for others to pursue it.

In closing out our memorable 2017, it's important to keep asking questions and remember: It's never too late to turn on the lights and say Thank you.

Mother Nature's Test

Thoughts of not being able to get out of the house or where you are, maybe swirling in your head...but,

Maybe Mother Nature's unpredictable nature, is meant to reintroduce us all to the silence of 'Snow' & the possibilities of a clean new landscape.

If you let it - it can bring new hope...unlike other disasters this year - snow can clear your thoughts...

In the silence, let the past be cleansed by memories of childhood's innocence. Surrender yourself to optimism and dare to believe your at home in this world. Wherever you are & with whomever you find yourselves with. A long-awaited reverie, a cross-road that beckons you to reassess the landscape you've traveled & acknowledge the secret wounds that we all carry inside us. You can always go home - sometimes finding your way back - just takes a little longer.

Merry Christmas, everyone. Be Safe. If your in the Northeast on this snowy Christmas, stay indoors, be careful there is a sheet of ice underneath everything and take a lot of breaks while shoveling.

Sexual Harassment #MeToo

It's a conversation, it's a movement, it's shaming the perpetrators, but, it will never change what happened.

It happens on the street, in the workplace and in divorce cases.  Women who are singled out. Why? Simply, because they are viewed as objects. We dress nice, we take care of our bodies. Not for recognition; but for us, we know it's the only one we'll be able to live in.

Judges, it's not to surprising when a male Judge/Prosecutor/You?  sides with the perpetrator. But when it's a woman Judge/Prosecutor/You? who, won't even let you speak it's infuriating.

Women don't even support other women.  In divorce, it's often the other woman or man's mother - who knows it's happening and says nothing. Because she thinks it won't happen to her, because she's different. It's the women who standby, in the workplace or on the streets - as another is defamed and look away.  These women actually knowingly add to and enable the onslaught.

Silence and/or Speaking Out, both have their repercussions.  In every instance the defamation slapped at the victim has widespread repercussions, it labels her, it separates her from friends, co-workers.  Oh, you can say 'well they were never really friends'.  The truth is it happens with family members pitting children and others against her. Often with notorious outrageous lies.  Every area of "her" life dissected and every area of his life shielded.

#Weinstein the name in of itself, like his acts; offers up an appropriate contradiction - wine or beer?

How about water? Essential to life. Not hot, because women are not teabags, to be left to brew and then carelessly tossed aside.  Even a drop of water is a universal need. Imagine if you filled it.

Like the Truth, it would be refreshing, reviving even.

Justice over Childhood Sexual Abuse

Vindicated. The Victims Frame of Reference & The Communities Role to Ensure It's A Survivors Perspective.

"Justice is an intangible thing. It is part of natural law (e.g., John Locke), it involves the system of consequences that naturally derives from any action or choice."

An inspiring story to read, about the strength of the human spirit and the ability to keep asking questions while moving forward, despite being shunned by the people you were suppose to be able to trust the most.

The Worst Sort of Contractor's

Imagine your shopping for windows and you thought you bought these from a company; because that is what the salesman told you, you were buying:

 But Instead, You Received These

Your Told, They Will Cost $1,000 For Each Window, because they have to do cement work & it's a 2 person job. But no cement work is ever done and 1 person comes in and out in 2 hours.
Here's what we did:
Complained to the business, let them know we are filling a complaint with the BBB (useless, they paid for an A+ rating) and the Attorney Generals Office Consumer Protection Department; as well as, the State licensing board.
Results:
Deal with an unscrupulous attorney get half the settlement your entitled to.  It's sometimes, better to wait for the AG's office to negotiate for you, if your city has a department that does that. Massachusetts is great at protecting citizens, while states like New Hampshire not so much.

Or this situation,
One where a contractor you've been doing business with for years, is sold unknown to you until; they come into your home and don't do the work they said they did. You call for heat. Return to no heat. Expecting the usual free estimate before anything is done.

No notice or call that they needed a part or did any work, which they claim is the case 3 days later, when they finally get back to you and after you call in another plumber. One who is able to fix the heat without additional parts.  Yet they charge you for it. When, they have this on their website:
"Free Estimate" was Never Given, in this matter.
Here's what you do:
Challenge the collection agency to get you a copy of your  signature that you signed for the work.
Results:
The collection agency sends a notice that the matter has been dropped; because they never got your signature.  Don't sign until it's done right and your actually given an estimate.

Now imagine your a senior citizen on a Fixed Income and you realize you've just been scammed and when you ask the above company's to fix it, the window people come in 4 times, reschedule twice at the last minute and the company refuses to give you what you purchased and you get a 1/4 of the refund.   The plumber well obviously they never get your business back; because they made the wrong choices.

It's always wrong to take advantage of anyone;
it is unconscionable to take advantage of senior citizens.
Beware of the disreputable!

 Stick Up For Those People
Who Need To Be Treated Fairly. Write Reviews, Push Back.
The Truth should always be in plain sight.

The Start of #Airbnb Adventures

The Garland House Library! #Airbnb Priscilla’s place, is a step back in time. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to live in the 1800's. This Georgian Vernacular #architecture is a home that will wrap you in it's embrace! Excellent period pieces through the decades.

A Warm Welcome in the Scrabble Pieces & an Informative Host
 Breakfast by a Glenwood Stove
A cellar built with rubble stone (uncut)
has lasted since 1821A lovely Sun Room
Bedrooms in decades of Period Pieces
 Handmade Quilts
My Room & Bed a little over a foot off the floor, I had a stool to get up & it was super comfy!
No TV, but you'll tuck in & if you dare to peek into some of the diaries from ancestors of this home ... your surroundings will literally transport you to daily life as far back as 1821.
Priscilla is an amazing host & you would never know she had 3 dogs or 16 chicken's in the back yard. I loved the details; her endearing welcome, access to her library, family diaries and her. From her welcome to the time she spent discussing the history surrounding her and the town of Rye itself, was informative & witty and she left the lights on so I could find it again. Rye, NH has very few street lights.
A Glenwood Stove, with a Breakfast that was tasty, hearty and filling; this stop made for an amazing adventure! Try Airbnb with me & you'll get a $35.00 credit on your first trip. I will definitely be using them worldwide! A great way to get immersed into the culture!
